About
HORI METAL LEAF & POWDER CO., LTD. has a history of 300 years, having been established in 1711 (the first year of the Shotoku era) by founder Denbei Sunakoya. In the beginning we manufactured gold leaf as the goldbeater for the gold mint under the control of the Tokugawa government. However, since the days of the Meiji Restoration we have expanded our market nationwide, so that today we deal in a variety of metal foils and powders.
Responding to the developments of the times, we have since the end of the Second World War been a tireless explorer in the field of advanced science, as well as in the realm of decorative arts, and have both expanded and refined our technology.
